El Comité Organizador Conjunto de la XVI Reunión Internacional de Historiadores de México convoca a todos los especialistas en historia de México a enviar sus propuestas de mesa completa o de ponencia individual en torno al tema “Los federalismos en la historia de México y México-Texas.”
La XVI Reunión Internacional de Historiadores de México se llevará a cabo del 30 de octubre al 2 de noviembre de 2022, en la Universidad de Texas en Austin, en la ciudad de Austin, Texas, Estados Unidos. La reunión será organizada por la Universidad de Texas en Austin con sede en el Departamento de Historia y el Colegio de Artes Liberales. La reunión contará también con el apoyo generoso de las instituciones y organizaciones cuyos logotipos se colocan al pie de la página de la misma.
Recepción de Propuestas
Se invita a especialistas en cualquier aspecto de la historia de México y de instituciones académicas de cualquier país a participar en esta reunión. A título indicativo el Comité Organizador ofrece un listado de ejes temáticos. Las propuestas se recibirán a partir del 15 de junio y hasta el 7 de enero de 2022. Se aceptarán tanto propuestas de mesas completas como ponencias a título individual. Solamente se aceptarán propuestas enviadas a través de los formularios disponibles en la página web de la reunión:
Las propuestas de mesa deberán reunir las siguientes características:
- Estar compuestas por cuatro participantes, uno de los cuales fungirá como coordinador
- Contar de preferencia con participantes de más de un país
- Se dará preferencia a las propuestas de mesa integradas con una representación intergeneracional entre los ponentes
- Se dará preferencia a propuestas de mesa con diversidad de género
- Los resúmenes de propuestas deberán explicar no sólo el tema del trabajo/mesa, sino además su contribución a la historiografía (por ejemplo, en términos de argumentos, fuentes, etc.)
- El título de la ponencia deberá reflejar la lengua en que se la pretenda presentar
- En caso de que la propuesta de mesa cuente con menos de cuatro ponencias, el Comité Organizador asignará a los participantes necesarios para completar la mesa
- En caso que sea necesario, y para fines de una programación más coherente, el comité organizador reserva el derecho de agregar ponentes a las mesas que se propongan
- Las decisiones del Comité Organizador serán inapelables
Nota sobre idioma: esta Reunión estudia y celebra la historia de México, por lo que la convención es admitir trabajos que se presenten en los idiomas reconocidos de México, que son el español y los idiomas indígenas. Sin embargo, y pensando en el tema del evento, en la XVI Reunión se admitirán también propuestas y presentaciones en inglés, siempre y cuando no les sea posible a los autores respectivos presentar en español u otro idioma indígena. Se aceptarán asimismo propuestas de mesa con idioma mixto.
Esta convocatoria se cierra el día 7 de enero de 2022 a las 23:00 horas (Tiempo Centro de EU). No se recibirá propuesta alguna después de este término. El Comité Organizador publicará el listado de las propuestas seleccionadas entre el 24 y el 28 de enero de 2022. Todas las comunicaciones serán enviadas por correo electrónico. Las cuotas y fechas de inscripción serán anunciadas próximamente.

The Joint Organizing Committee of the XVI Meeting of International Historians of Mexico invites all specialists in the history of Mexico to submit individual paper proposals and panel proposals on the conference theme of “Federalisms in the History of Mexico and Mexican Texas.”
The XVI Meeting of International Historians of Mexico will be held from 30 October – 2 November 2022, in the University of Texas at Austin, in the city of Austin, Texas, United States. The meeting is organized by the University of Texas at Austin, and is hosted by the Departament of History and the College of Liberal Arts. The meeting is also generously supported by the institutions and organizations whose logotypes are located at the bottom of the conference webpages.
Proposal Submissions
Specialists in any aspect of Mexican history representing academic institutions from any country are invited to take part in this meeting. The Organizing Committee offers a list of conference tracks by way of indication. Proposals will be received from 15 June to 7 January 2022. Proposals for full panels as well as proposals for individual papers will be accepted. Only proposals submitted using the forms available on the conference website will be accepted:
Panel proposals should have the following characteristics:
- Be composed of four participants, one of whom will act as chair
- Preferably contain participants from more than one country
- Preference may be given to panel proposals in which there is an intergenerational mix of participants
- Preference will be given to panel proposals that are diverse in terms of gender
- Panel summaries should explain not just the themes of the papers/panel, but also the historiographical contribution (for example, in terms of arguments, sources, etc.)
- Paper titles should reflect the language in which the presentation will be given
- In the case of a panel proposal with fewer than four members, the Organizing Committee will assign the participants needed to complete the panel
- When necessary, and in the interests of coherent programing, the committee reserves the right to add panelists to panel proposals
- The decisions of the Organizing Committee are final
Note on language: this meeting studies and celebrates the history of Mexico, hence by convention welcomes the presentation of scholarly works in the recognized languages of Mexico, namely Spanish and indigenous languages. However, and given the theme of this event, for the XVI Meeting proposals and presentations in English will also be accepted when it is not possible for a given author or authors to present in either Spanish or an indigenous language. Mixed language panels are also acceptable.
This Call for Papers closes on 7 January 2022 at 11:00 P.M. (US Central Time). No proposals will be accepted subsequently. The Organizing Committee will publish the list of proposals accepted between 24 – 28 January 2022. All communications will be sent by email. Registration fees and dates will be announced soon.
